You may recognize this weeks installment of Home Repair as the opening sequence to the widely unpopular web series, “So Freakin Regular.”  A series in which, similar to the song itself, is a painfully mundane walk through a plain grass field of normalcy.  *Yawn*. Generic? Ordinary? Common? Yup. I was blessed with the coveted fortune to be all of the above. Who’s got time to be socially relevant, and worldly idolized when there’s bills to pay and dogs to walk? Not me. This dinner aint gon microwave itself. So, with that, I present to you my newest release, “Regular.” Produced and cut by DJ MF Shalem. And if you cant get down with it…you’re just way too special for me. Which I think is awesome. You should go get yourself a pedicure, tough guy!

Id be a thousand times more likely to enjoy an NBA game if the players were all puppets. Im not exactly sure what that says about me….but, anyway, for obvious reasons…this is my favorite commercial series to date. I love this game.

I know, I know, I was supposed to have this available on Monday. Well, dont be such a jerk…geez. Sometimes people make mistakes. But honestly,  arent you so much more elated that I’ve appropriately equipped your insatiable appetite for song before the weekend? Of course you are! Now, when youre the grinder or grindee of some random tail at the club, you’ll think of me. And after all, thats the real reason I make music.

This weeks installment of Home Repair is an energetic tune that’s sure to get your toes-a-tappin. I mean, for real son…titties are coming out the shirt when you play this jammy. “Get It“, produced by DJ MF Shalem.

*titties are not guaranteed to come out of any shirts when you play this song.

For so many reasons Im proud to have the friends I have. Primarily, cause I think they do way cooler stuff than anybody else’s friends. Not that I think your friends are any less enjoyable. Im sure theyre a delightful bunch. Who knows, maybe one day you and your friends and me and my friends can go out and play a game of tetherball and afterwards,  share a cake. But, until that happens…..look what my friends can do!

Blue Fin

Good ol’ Monterey. Wonderful town that is. You know why I like it so much? Because the natives really seem to enjoy being rapped at. And I really enjoy rapping at them.  Honestly, its a relationship truer than the love of a man and  woman…or a dog and chew toy. In any event, the good people at Blue Fin have allowed the opportunity for me to make with the rap-whoopy once again. Something I believe we should all be excited for. On Dec 19, I’ll be playing with my homeboys, Rec League (voted “most internationally phenomenal rap champions of forever” by Sports Illustrated), and on Jan 09, I’ll be performing a solo set, along with Greyspace. You should go to both. It’ll vastly improve the quality of your life. I promise.

see below for footage of the last Blue Fin event.

What has two thumbs, incredible raps, and an enthusiastic affinity for Jim Henson creations? Yup….this guy! So, needless to say, when I found out Dr. Romanelli was collaborating with the late maharajah of muppetry, I scoured my closet for the most expendable pair of denim to pee myself in.  As far as I know, this is just the first in a series of Dr. Doozer” projects…which means, I’ll be just as ecstatic a few more times to come. Besides, Disney aint doing nothing fly with Jim Henson’s work. It deserves to be in the hands of somebody who can cool ‘em up, and not zippidy doo da them to death. Bing!

On the day of my birth, when Jesus first breathed life into my portly, baby brown body, the sky became a rumble, and a voice spoke unto me. “My son,” echoed the voice, “I present to you these four gifts. One, a creative mind, in which to bestow upon the Earth the joy of good song. Two, a strong heritage. With this, you shall forever be proud and fear no obstacle that lay before you…also, when necessary, you can use it to exploit white guilt. Gifts three and four, you shall let no man tear asunder…and these gifts are, Tootie…and Rudy.”

Here it is, for your audible consumption…the first installment of a project I call, “Home Repair,” the worlds first do-it-yourself Haji P. album. An album in which you, the highly motivated and self sufficient listener, will be given all the tools necessary to comprise your own compilation of  my crooning. Until the release date of my full length LP, Neighborhood Kid, every other Monday  I will provide a new, exclusive, and/or previously unreleased song. If you build your home properly, you’ll have two discs worth of fun-filled lyrical adventure. However, if you fail to properly construct your home…you lose. Dont be a loser.

People’s Court, produced by DJ MF Shalem. Its a rap about rap…and youre gonna love it.

Rec-League-Season-2-Front-Insert-2

When the canadian mounted police rescue heavily chested damsels, bound by ropes to the railroad tracks, they ask nothing in return. Not even a thank you. While their merit warrants them at least a quick feel of the boob, they maintain their nobility. In that same vein, my gallant consortium of rhythmic do-gooders have decided to save your coming year from certain peril.  In return, we, as the brave mounties, request nothing of you. Starting in December, Rec League will usher in your 2010 with new albums from each of its members.  The crusade will start with  Season 2, the Rec League compilation record which features heroic melodies from the teams entirety. We’ve heard your cries….and now, we shall save your 2010. Now go, run to the hills and sing of the brave souls who rap better than your other friends that rap……witcha “Help! Help! Save me!” yellin’ a**.

ten for the streets.

I dont know what it did for you, but for me….Sesame Street did absolutely nothing. Well, not as far as educational progression anyway. As an educator, I’d be remised if I were to deny my teachers, elders and mom dukes that credit. Them motherfreakers put in work, son! However, what it did do was initiate and solidify my affinity for Jim Henson and his creations…as well as provide a program that positively reflected a multicultural cast of people living in an urban surrounding. I mean, dont get me wrong, it taught a nigga how to count to twelve and sh*t…but, for me…I was more enamoured with the ability  to say, “Yo, that lady outside of Big Bird house looks like my Auntie!” An attribute I think is largely overlooked when imparting praise for the, today, 40 year old television series. Or maybe its not overlooked. I dont know. I dont really read a lot of Sesame Street reviews. Anyhow, as previously mentioned…today (Nov 10.) is the 40th Anniversary of the Children’s Television Workshop program. And in honor, Im going to countdown my ten favorite characters. Ready. Set. Bing!
